golden gondola style boats in Marmaris

Postby azzagazza » 25 Apr 2009 06:37

Hiya, I am going back to Icmeler on holiday in June. Last year we saw these lovely boats while on a trip to Marmaris. The board called them Ottoman Imperial Caquies, look a bit like a golden gondola near the statue of Ataturk. I am just looking for some information - can you have a meal on board, are children allowed? I would love to go for a sail on them this year, has anyone been on one? Be grateful for any help.
Thanks

We asked about these when we was in Marmaris last June, the man said they only sailed in the evening for about 1hr along the coast, you get a couple glasses of wine,we haggled a price of about £35 for 4 of us,still didnt think it was worth it,looked like you would be packed like sardines sitting in a row.

I've just got back from Marmaris, and the boats in question have been bought ashore, most probably for the winter.

I haven't been on them, as Chris says, the trip in very short.
