Cafe Del Mar

Postby sarah.colley » 31 May 2008 14:14

This is the most amazing restaurant we have found so far in Icmeler.
We stubbled upon it one night and was amazed at how friendly and welcoming the staff were.
Cafe Del Mar is situated overlooking the bay of Icmeler and can be found by walking up the path to Marmaris from Icmeler beach and is the second Restaurant on the right hand side.
Once inside there are a number of tables which sit right on the edge and will give you uninterrupted views over Icmeler and Marmaris Bay.
Just below the restaurant is a beach with approx 160 sun loungers which for the cost of a chilled 'Efes' are totally free.
The chef is a very experienced one and produces the most mouth watering dishes including the amazing grilled sea bream and sea bass which are to die for! and for those with a sweet tooth you MUST try his pancakes with a number of optional ice creams and sauces!
The restaurant is managed by Akif who used to work in Titanic 2 years ago but now runs this very sucessful restaurant and has a passion for his work and a great personality as well.
I urge you to try this restaurant and can guarentee you will not be disappointed!

Didn't realise it was a restaurant. We thought it was just a bar in the most wonderful position.

You turn left after you come from 'little venice' go past Cafe Anne and walk right along the beach path - it's a fairly steep hill to walk up, so not so good for people with walking difficulties. It's on the right hand side.

The food is fantastic and the view is out of this world. Hope you find it okay as it's so worth it.

Sue ...

The cafe does in fact do lunches. You can order either from their snack menu or their larger menu i.e. pastas, salads etc ... either way, you won't be disappointed!

Because of the position, we regularly used the Cafe del Mar to stop and have coffee and enjoy the wonderful views. We also had breakfast there once and enjoyed it. In fact we didn't have one disappointing Turkish breakfast while in Turkey and the Cafe Del Mar introduced as to the mixture of tahini and uzum pekmezi (grape juice molasses) that makes a pleasant change from jam or honey. Presumably they have a high rent to pay for the position as prices are slightly higher than anywhere else - only slightly though.

Hi all yes what a wonderfull place we have made some wonderfull friends there namely murat, franki, both brilliant turkish people who have worked there . The food is wonderfull day or night and the beach there is just perfect you may be there on a daytime and a helicopter lands close by you, but the best of all is having a meal and drink by night and watching the moon coming over the mountain, a truly memorable experience .

If you were walking from Icmeler to Marmaris along the beach path, is it on this path?

The wife and i had loads of great meals here last year.....we went last night for nothing more than carbonara....and it was terrible. Garlic bread as starters...terrible, and when we asked for parmazan ....we got a bowl of grated chedder. Gutted as we loved this place last year, only good for drinks and the view this year sadly
