Lamb leg meal

Postby denningj » 02 Aug 2017 08:47

Hi All when we go back in September want to go for a nice lamb leg meal - can you suggest where to go and what is the normal/average price. Looked on trip advisor and mixed reviews for Sidiks recently. Thanks

Sidik's normally gets very good reviews for its leg of lamb in particular, although I've not been there myself for some time. I haven't had leg of lamb anywhere for a while either - so I'm not really up to date on which places are doing the best ones now. One of the best I had was at the Bonjour, which of course is gone now. One thing which might be worth mentioning is that Sony's, on the road up past Romance towards the old village, has just got one of the proper tandoor clay ovens and was advertising the proper slow cooked leg of lamb, ordered at least a day in advance. Cafe Rose is meant to be good too - again I think you have to book for that one too.

As Blondie says, I've not had a lamb meal for a while. The last time I did have one was at Sidik's funnily enough and it was superb. It was for my parents wedding anniversary meal and it was delicious and loads of it.

My husband had a lovely leg of lamb meal at Ida restaurant in the square last year. I can't remember exactly how much it cost but it was not expensive at all.

Not sure any one is better than the others. They're all cooked overnight by the same people in the same place - the old bakery in the centre of the old village-then delivered to the various restaurants. This is why they ask you to book 24hrs in advance. We often get one at Sidik's.

Sony's is on the road up past Romance as you head towards the old village.

We've had some lovely meals in Alin's over the years - never tried lamb in there though.

I discovered Alins grill last year after years of walking past it and not going in. Food is superb and in my opinion one of the best places I've eaten in icmeler.
As for the leg of lamb I've tried that in a few places and by far the best was in the Buffalo Bar. The bar itself is not to my liking as I hate karaoke but we really enjoyed the leg of lamb we had in there. Cant comment on price as it was a few years ago.
