Arrived Monday...

Postby chezza100 » 03 May 2016 09:59

Good flight with TC, flight was full & on time.

Transfer with Oyesholiday, interesting journey as there are a few road works en route.

Arrived at 16:30. Weather warm but overcast with a few spots of rain as I type this.

Place is slowly coming to life & where places aren't open yet staff are getting ready by cleaning or painting etc.

Its certainly better than last year when lots were installing the roofs at short notice.

Rate is just tipping 4tl to £

Thanks for the update chezza. Just looked Simons Jewelers web cam and seen people with rain macs on. It will soon be sunny again, that's the difference...it's warm rain.

Enjoy your holiday and keep us updated on the weather/lira.

Cheers Chezza ... Hope the rain disappears

Thanks for the info on the Lira too, as we're just taking £ when we go and get it changed in our usual place

Enjoy and hope time goes slowly for you, but not too slow or our holiday will never arrive this Month!

Thanks chezza for this.

We go every year in August, at the height of the season, but I'd love to go at this time of year, to see the place coming to life. Maybe next year. For now I'll have to make do with the forums, I guess.

Hope you have a great hol.

Thanks for the update.

Chicken set meal for 37 lira seems a wee bit high. I am sure it was only around 28/30 lira last year. Dont get me wrong its not expensive just seems a bit of a jump since last year, over 20%

Thanks Chezza, hopefully the storms are just 'breaking' up the weather and its Sun, Sun, Sun from now on!

Lira rate is certainly on the up ... I wonder if it will be 5tl come the 17/5??

Agree Smc ... Meals seem to have increased a fair bit since last year

Not sure where that was, but as a comparison, the Wembley Bar is advertising set meals (any pizza, pasta or chicken dish) plus the usual meze, soup, plus apple pie or cheesecake and tea or coffee for 28TL, so obviously there is a bit of a variation in prices depending on where you go. Considering that works out at around £7, it's still pretty good value, I would say.

You cant eat chicken every night of your holiday or you will be clucking by the time of your departure

Save a few pennies more and go eat a fish meal in a specialist place or push the boat out and go get a tbone

Wrather is beautiful, the last couple of days have hit 30+ still a bit chilli in the evenigs which is normal.

There seems to be more people around but its still fairly quiet. I was talking to a guy the other night & hes working at the Aqua; he said the hotel is really busy.

The hotel allocated parts of the beach look busy too so seems AI is popular. Probably due to the deals that are about.

Chris de boned or filleted maybe what you were looking for

I meant a fish restaurant as in Nil Balik in the marina at Marmaris but my favourite is next door and called Deniz.

A lot of places sell farmed fish which though tasty are not as tasty as rod caught wild fish which you will get in places in the marina.

Best calamari I have tasted anywhere is at deniz

A meat house such as mehmed ocakbasi in marmaris is excellent and half the price of such places spoken about in icmeler

if a restaurant sells every type of food then it does not specialise but still may be nice but not as good as the specialist places

apologies for the lack of capitals and punctuation but my keyboard has taken the knock
