I too have had this on odd occasions when visiting the site. Not happening every time though. My eset blocks it and in the log I can see what it was. I have copied the log report to here , maybye it will help someone throw some light on the issue.

04/11/2011 06:16:52 HTTP filter archive viewtopic.php?t=14846 JS/Iframe.AP trojan connection terminated - quarantined Ronnie-PC\Ronnie Threat was detected upon access to web by the application: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe.

Log file says it is a JS/Iframe.AP trojan but again does not happen every time.

Hope this helps someone

Ouch!!!. Hope you got a good anti virus program on it to stop it happening again. I work at computers and you would be amazed at how many I come across with no anti virus. Some have anti virus but on checking them they never seem to be updated or scanned. Advice here people is If you have anti virus update it regular and scan at least once a week. If you have no anti virus , get one. AVG can be downloaded free from the web.

The pop up hasnt appeared tonight and since I have killed my computer I am using my husbands and when the pop up occurs AVG sorts it.
I shouldnt have clicked on it though but after being on here for quite a few years I didnt think it was a virus.
Thank goodness our photos are stored on this pc!
Still good excuse to get a new one.

Hi Rami,
Logged on at home on laptop and no virus warnings - whatever you have done seems to have worked.

There's also a thread about this on tripadvisor - with the obligatory sarcastic comment from the usual suspect!

Rami/JT, tried this morning on two different laptops, one had never been on this site - both were perfect so I think you've corrected the problem.

thank you blondie for letting us know...I only seen it today and replied on trip advisor. Strange his signature says Icmeler expert and not s.stirring expert :))

John G, thank you for checking up on this issue..... I have had tests done on at least 15 different computers in the last 24 hours just to make sure everyone is safe..

A couple of tips regarding virus protection..

1. Create three accounts on your computer, the 1st account is the administrator account and is only used to install software and configure the PC. The second account is a normal account and is used for general day to day activity and surfing if you are attacked by a virus it is difficult for the virus to do any damage as the account you are using has minimal rights, yes you are still vulnerable tô spyware etc but you have greater protection. The third accound is again a normal account but you only ever use this account for banking transactions etc, you never use it for anything else.

2. Goto http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208282173 and download this rescue disk and create one, this is the best product I have ever seen for virus recovery, the last time I needed to use it was on a pc that had its partitions deleted and its boot sector replaced with a hijack message asking for €100 for an unlock code, I booted from the cd and 10 minutes later all was fixed.

3. Goto http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208284232 and download and create a virus scanner cd, this scans your full system from a boot able cd.

Their english is better than my Russian, Amazon and PCworld sell their products, but if in doubt don't use it however the companies charging money to recover peoples PCs most likely are using this tool to recover systems.

Hi Dave,
No, your suggestion was a good one and i've heard good things about Kaspersky - just thought they'd have the resources to fund a translator.

Hi,
I've used Kaspersky, and it is a good product, you can on certain versions protect up to 3 computers on the same licence No. That said if you only wish to test your system for virus, you can go to www.sophos.com and download a free trial. This is a very expensive industrial virus killer. I now use Microsoft Security Essentials, which is free from Microsoft.com. This flagged once approx 2 weeks ago but since then nothing............while on the subject of Virus,
How many people have Smart phones, you can get a free virus Killer, Software checker from AVG on the market apps, don't forget modern phones are basically mini computers that carry as much info as you want to put on them, i.e. phone contacts, email contacts and god forbid, Bank Details all of which can be hacked.

AVG has just blocked another Virus now when I logged on to this site.

I have done as DKSBBS suggested, split my PC into 3. One for banking, this one now for internet use, and the main one with all my Music, Pics etc.
