Along with Izmir and Dalaman, Bodrum’s airport is one of the three major airports that you can use when coming to Turkey’s Aegean Coast for a holiday. As all three are spread out it means the transfer time from the airport to your hotel or apartment should never be too long.

 

Most holidaymakers know this as simply Bodrum Airport, though the official name is Milas Bodrum Airport because it is situated in between these two towns. Bodrum is about 20 miles (36km) to the south east of Bodrum Airport.

 

Before Bodrum Airport was built and you wanted to come on holiday to Bodrum you had a very long transfer from Dalaman or Izmir Airports, now the transfer is quick and easy, allowing you to start your Bodrum holiday a lot quicker!

 

The airport code for Bodrum Airport is BJV and although the airport is fairly new anyway, a newer and larger international terminal was constructed in 2000. In terms of international passengers, Bodrum Airport is the 5^th busiest airport in Turkey. You can travel the distance between the airport and Bodrum town by taxi, shuttle bus or hire car.

 

As you would expect Bodrum Airport provides all the usual services that you normally find in an international airport. There is a cafeteria style restaurant where you can buy food and drinks, however the prices here are very highly inflated so you may want to bring your own food and drinks with you from your hotel in Bodrum. Remember that there are now liquid restrictions in effect in Turkey though.

 

Bodrum Airport also provides duty free shops, currency exchange, a cash machine, information desk and other general shops.

 

You can hire a car direct from Bodrum Airport if you’re planning on doing some touring around while on holiday in Bodrum. There are several international brands as well as some Turkish names, including Avis, Europcar and Hertz.

 

In addition to Bodrum itself, you can catch a flight to Bodrum Airport if you’re going on holiday to Gumbet, Bitez, Turgutreis, Gumusluk, Torba, Didim and Altinkum.

 

There are eight different airlines offering flights to Bodrum from the UK. Some of these only offer seasonal flights, but flights from many different regional airports in the UK are available using the following: Thomas Cook Airlines, Thomson Airways, Monarch Airlines, Pegasus Airlines, EasyJet, Saga Airlines, Sky Airlines, and Cyprus Turkish Airlines.
